Virginia Wilson Mounger is an
Administrative Judge with the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission. Prior to
joining the Commission in 1994, she was engaged in the private practice of law and served
as the City of Jackson Public Defender. Judge Mounger has also worked for Southern Natural
Gas and its exploration division, SONAT, Inc., as legal counsel and landman, having
devoted much of her past legal experience to an expertise on oil and gas law and
investments.
Judge Mounger graduated from the University of Mississippi Law Center in
1979 where she served on the Moot Court Board, was a Dean’s List Scholar and
recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award. She received an undergraduate Bachelor of
Arts degree from Mississippi State University in 1975 and completed graduate studies at
University College, Oxford University. Oxford, England.
Judge Mounger is on the Board of Governors of the Wilson Research Foundation at
Methodist Rehabilitation Center and is active in numerous other civic and legal
organizations. She is a frequent lecturer on Mississippi Workers’ Compensation law.
